Grandmaster Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do
The Original Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu system was organized in 1947 by Sensei Shoshin Nagamine at his Kodokan Dojo in Naha Okinawa. Among the group were Kyan,Kushi, and Nakamura Sensei who taught the classes. seniors were Shima, Taba, and Kina Sensei and in the category of young masters were Ansei Ueshiro Chokotu Omine Yamazaki-san Mr Okinawa..... In 1962 Ansei Ueshiro accepted an opportunity to come to America as the official Matsubayashi shorin-ryu instructor the first Okinawan to arrive here...shortly after which Eihachi Ota 1966, Takayoshi Nagamine 1967,Chokotu Omine 1969, Toshiro Oshiro 1978,Taba, Kina 1975 visited USA and returned to Okinawa

From 1962 to 1969 Sensei Ansei Ueshiro grew nationally the Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate system from obsurity as compared to Japanese systems and other Okinawa groups as Isshin-Ryu Uechi-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, Okinawan Kempo...Kosho Ryu Kempo Hawaii and Tae Kwon Do Korea Ueshiro was elite for his strong Kumite and hard training methods...sometimes criticized as brutal but those who survived were indeed respected.... In 1969 Ueshiro separated from the main Honbu Dojo to establish his Shorin-Ryu Karate USA organization with his second generation black belt students...In 1974 The First Shorin-Ryu Freindship Tournament was held with Jim Wax Sam Palmer and Robert Yarnall reuniting local sensei Sonny Zermeno, Ken Ruiz, Ernie Ferarra Serge Savicheff and new comer to the teaching group Terry Maccarrone emerging from the Joe Johnson dojo in St James in 1966 as part-owner and 1969 as full owner.

Terry Maccarrone promoted his first black belt Ray Glynn in 1970 under Ansei Ueshiro, Robert Jantzen, Peter Stavrides,Robert Scaglione, Al Irizarry, Joyce Santamaria soon followed by 1974 Maccarrone had writted a karate instruction manual published with new crest and logo registered to Terry Maccarrone and Karate USA. The first manual was typewritten from USKA and Especially from Parker Shelton Shorin-Ryu Training Guide new ranking system based upon the Eight Grade from Hachi-Kyu to Shodan-Ho and Shodan to Godan Instructors Level. In 1978 The Empire State Karate Championship was created 1979 1980 was run by Joyce Santamaria and became a National Sport Karate Event. In 1980 Terry Maccarrone opened the Port Haven Karate Dojo in East Setauket NY and in 1982 acquired Steve Bevils Mastic Beach dojo.. In 1987 Westhampton Beach dojo at the Studio East having Four FullTime Dojo left Terry Maccarrone as senior most student of Ansei Ueshiro traveling to Okinawa in 1982 1983 1986 1992 1994 as his International Representative... In 1997 the Nagamine Family and Matsubayashi -Ryu confered Rokyu Dan 6th Degree Black Belt to Terry Maccarrone for his work and lifetime efforts. Maccarrone sensei is closely advised by Kyoshi Joesph Carbonara,Kyoshi Ken Ruiz,Hanshi Ernie Ferarra and Renshi Sal Franco...and internationally by Master Phil Koeppel,Kyoshi Gordon Garland, Hanshi Bob Taiani, Hanshi Nick Adler, Hanshi Andrew Linick...Patrick McCarthy
